THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ONNETILIA (M Mjoka) was stubborn loading.
b) PERFECTION (JP van der Merwe) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow into stride.
c) DAMMI (T Gould) was stubborn loading and stood awkwardly in the stalls.
d) PURE MAVERICK (S Khathi) was nervous in the stalls.
e) FORTUNE OF GOLD (*RA Venniker) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride.
f) DOUBLE DESTINY (M Yeni) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) In the concluding stages INDY VIEW (L Mxothwa) rolled out and became awkwardly placed close to the heels of PURE MAVERICK (S Khathi). As a consequence, Jockey L Mxothwa hesitated with his riding at the finish.
b) Apprentice RA Venniker reported that FORTUNE OF GOLD took a number of awkward strides on the bend and entering the straight and she did not persevere with her riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) Jockey R Munger reported that, in his opinion, the performance of LORD TENNYSON was disappointing. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) Jockey R Danielson was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on ONNETILIA, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey R Danielson signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00.
e) PURE MAVERICK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
f) INDY VIEW, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D McKenzie, acting on behalf of Trainer SB Kotzen, was advised. (LM)
