THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FRANCA (M Yeni) was stubborn loading and jumped awkwardly outwards. b) FLY MY FLAG (L Mxothwa) jumped inwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) There was a technical issue with the starting stalls, which was rectified, causing a delay. b) Jockey M Yeni briefly lost his left-side iron leaving the stalls when FRANCA jumped awkwardly outwards. c) At the 200m the entire field became momentarily unbalanced, shifted in sharply and had to be straightened. The Stewards, after viewing the race replay and interviewing the riders that participated in this race, were of the opinion that this was as a result of the prevailing cross-wind that had gusted across the track. d) MISS NIBBLES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
