THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, stall gate 1 opened for no apparent reason. STORM CHASER (R Munger) then bolted the course with the rider. STORM CHASER (R Munger) was taken in hand in the parade ring, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) AFRICA'S ROCK (*RA Venniker) was stubborn loading and thereafter, slow into stride. c) JET MIRAGE (J Mphanya) jumped awkwardly, losing many lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 200m AFRICA'S ROCK (*RA Venniker) had to be steadied away from the heels of MY AMI BEACH (T Gould), which shifted out marginally and was immediately straightened. b) DUKE OF ORANGE (JP van der Merwe) and BRASS BELL (M Mjoka) were hanging in in the straight. c) In view of the performance of MY AMI BEACH (T Gould) (Betting 11/2 ; Distance 4.85) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that ROCK GARDEN took no interest in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey W Agrella reported that AL QAASIM tired quickly from the 200m, took an awkward stride and thereafter, he did not persevere with his riding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the report from the starter regarding JET MIRAGE (J Mphanya), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be able to jump on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 03/12/2022 to 09/12/2022 inclusive). JET MIRAGE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. g) NAVAL SECRET, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WGC Miller was advised.
