MOODIES WELL was stubborn loading and jumped out leaving the stalls. SKIP THE LIGHT and CONTRAIL lost 1 length. WHISKYTANGOFOXTROT jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THUNDERBOLT LANE jumped outwards leaving the stalls. Shortly after the start CONTRAIL and SEVEN PATRIOTS came together and bumped when awkwardly placed between THUNDERBOLT LANE, which jumped out, and WHISKYTANGOFOXTROT, which jumped in. At approximately the 1000m MOODIES WELL was bumped outwards by SKIP THE LIGHT, which switched out to avoid running onto the heels of HAMLIN. When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have affected the performance of SEVEN PATRIOTS, Apprentice Schwarz explained to the Board that this colt had suffered interference at the start and thereafter had commenced to over-race when awkwardly placed on the inside of WHISKYTANGOFOXTROT into the first turn. When turning for home he had decided to make use of the false rail and make his run on the inside of the track, however, SEVEN PATRIOTS had run in snatches and did not finish the race off as well as expected. Apprentice Schwarz's comments were noted. Jockey Habib reported that he felt something amiss with MARKED WHITE NIGHT in running. CONTRAIL and EIGHTINTHEEIGTH were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MARKED WHITE NIGHT - severely cut into left hind. STAR OVER CAPETOWN - head injury.
