THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) VESUVIO (J P van der Merwe) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) As the start was effected, ACORN (*K A Brewer) was bumped by VESUVIO (J P van der Merwe), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) ASTROCYTE (D De Gouveia) raced wide around the turn and into the straight.
c) RULE BY FORCE (G Lerena) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages.
d) Jockey M Yeni reported that DESTINY OF SOULS changed stride continually in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that VESUVIO did not stride out freely in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) Apprentice S Sosibo was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride the horse WITHOUT EQUAL out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards.
Apprentice S Sosibo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1,000.00.
When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration that Apprentice S Sosibo had secured third position.
g) RULE BY FORCE (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

h) FUTUREWOLFF (R Munger), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer H E Adamson advised (MS).
