THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LUTHULI (*K A Brewer) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WONDERING STAR (S Khumalo) commenced to hang out badly from the 300m and, as a result, Jockey S Khumalo was unable to fully assist this colt to the end of the race. Trainer S J Gray will be advised to take the necessary corrective measures to improve this colt's racing manners. b) PLAYER (C Habib) hung in from the 150m. c) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.11 in that he ill-treated the horse WONDERING STAR by striking him on two occasions, with excessive force, en route to the start. Jockey S Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R2,500 was imposed. d) STOLEN THUNDER (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Crawford, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ANGELSEA was ridden by Jockey R Simons (declared 8 December 2022 at 09H40).
