THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ONE BITE AT A TIME (C Maujean) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay.
b) STATE OF MIND (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gates.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Jockey R Munger reported that AIMEE'S IDOL, which was squeezed out shortly after the start, did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
b) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that SPACE RACE changed stride continually in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
c) Jockey S Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking OWLETTE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey S Khathi used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level.
d) In view of the report from the starter regarding ONE BITE AT A TIME (C Maujean), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to load with a companion. Suspension dates: 10/12/2022 to 16/12/2022 inclusive). ONE BITE AT A TIME may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
e) RHYTHM OF THE RAIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised (LM).
