THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SMORGASBORD (*G Pieterse) reared in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WINTER STORIES (B Nyawo) proved reluctant to proceed to the start and had to be led. Trainer F P Habib was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) During the loading process, SMORGASBORD (*G Pieterse) was restless in the stalls and reared. This gelding was removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. c) GODSWOOD (*R A Venniker) hung in from the 200m. d) CASA INVERNO (C Maujean) gave ground to the field from the 200m. e) BIG BURN (*S Sosibo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee S Habib was advised (AH). f) ALESIAN CHIEF (M Yeni), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C J Lensley advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None.
