THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RAIN IN HOLLAND (*S Sosibo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) SHANGO (C Habib) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) ZEUS (S Khumalo) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SHANGO (C Habib) became unbalanced when bumped in by PAMUSHANA'S PRIDE (R Simons), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) VANDERBILT (*G Pieterse) hung in the early stages and thereafter in the concluding stages of the race. c) Leaving the 600m, RAIN IN HOLLAND (*S Sosibo), which had raced prominently, took an awkward stride, lost momentum and thereafter stayed on one-paced. d) Jockey R Simons reported that PAMUSHANA'S PRIDE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) SHANGO (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (SM).
