HATHAWAY lost two lengths. BALLY BLUE and GOLDENGRIP lost one length. KATIE'S TREASURE was hanging out between the 450m and 150m. In the concluding stages, MATADORA'S PARADE, which was hanging in from the 300m, was carried in by KILDONAN BAY, which rolled in and was immediately straightened. Jockey Khumalo signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse KILDONAN BAY, more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Khumalo the Board considered the number of times Jockey Khumalo struck the horse, KILDONAN BAY, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey Khumalo used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine was imposed. KILDONAN BAY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. AFRICAN DIVA raced with cheek pieces.
