THE STARTER HAD NO REPORTS. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SAMUEL SALT (M van Rensburg) had to steady and switch in when awkwardly placed between WINTER STORIES (B Nyawo) and TAIKONAUT (M Yeni) which rolled in marginally. b) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking SUPREME WARRIOR more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2500. When assessing the penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (14), Jockey Khumalo's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (3), his finishing position (2nd) and the status of the race. c) TAIKONAUT (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R R Magner advised (LK). d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning WINTER STORIES, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended from racing for a period of sixty days in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer F P Habib advised (NHA). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) VASEEM Jockey R Danielson weighed out at 55,2kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SUPREME WARRIOR abnormal respiratory noise. b) WINTER STORIES bilateral epistaxis. Recommended 60-day suspension.
