THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LINCOLN COUNTY (J Penny) and PEDASOS (*K A Brewer) were slow losing one length. b) HAROLD THE DUKE (*P Mxoli) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LINCOLN COUNTY proved reluctant to canter to the start and was led by a Handler. This gelding has been suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4 until proves tractable cantering to the start on a raceday. Trainer C I Jonker advised. b) As the start was effected, LINCOLN COUNTY (J Penny) and PRIME EXAMPLE (R Munger) were brushed inwards by HAROLD THE DUKE which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) In attempting to obtain cover, FAST DUTY (K Matsunyane) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. d) WAR MEDAL (F Herholdt) raced with an awkward head carriage around the turn and into the straight. e) LINCOLN COUNTY (J Penny) over-raced in the early and middle stages and thereafter compounded from the 300m. f) AMERICAN STAR (G Lerena) hung in from the 400m. g) AMERICAN STAR (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer T Zackey advised (RS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) AMERICAN STAR raced with a tongue tie on (declared 27 December 2022 at 08H01. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) WAR MEDAL abnormal respiratory noise and blowing. SCRATCHED: a) ROYAL RAPHAEL under 8-day suspension. Advised 26 December 2022 at 08H31.
