THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ALMAS TOWER and ALMIGHWAAR were examined by the course veterinary surgeon at the request of Jockey L Mxothwa and Jockey R Munger respectively and passed suitable to race, causing a delay.
b) DRENGS FERRY (D Ashby) was stubborn loading.
c) YOUNG NELSON (D de Gouveia) jumped inwards.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At the 1100m ALMAS TOWER (L Mxothwa) went amiss and was directed outwards away from the field and eased out of the race. ALMAS TOWER (L Mxothwa) was attended to on the course by the veterinary surgeon.
b) In view of the performance of YOUNG NELSON (D de Gouveia), which pulled hard in the early stages, raced to the front of field and tired quickly in the straight, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) Jockey R Munger reported that ALMIGHWAAR did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) Jockey M Mjoka reported that KING OF LUV changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) Jockey D Ashby reported that DRENGS FERRY choked up in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f) Jockey K Steyn was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking EUPHORIC more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey K Steyn signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey K Steyn used his crop and the number of strikes (13) over the permissible level.
g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DRENGS FERRY (D Ashby), Trainer Z Oosthuizen will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled before his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
h) GUY ALEXANDER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Wrensch was advised. (LM)

b) S Khathi rode SECRET LINK (15h11) (Jockey S Khumalo was stood down by the course medical officer - soft tissue injury left foot (Rule 25.12 not applied).
c) JP van der Merwe (DIRTY MARTINI) rode +0.5kg (52.9 kgs)
d) M Mjoka (KING OF LUV) rode +0.5kg (52.9 kgs)
