THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SHARAPOVA (B Fayd'Herbe) was fractious in the stalls, caught its right hind leg on the running board, was taken out, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and withdrawn. b) MARI MARIE (K Matsunyane) was restless in the stalls. c) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As a result of the late scratching of SHARAPOVA (B Fayd'Herbe), the tote favourite, the start of this race was delayed to allow the betting public time to restructure their bets. b) YOU WIN AGAIN (JP van der Merwe) raced green. c) Jockey R Fourie reported that HELEN'S LEGACY, which tired quickly from the 300m, did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the report from the starter regarding SHARAPOVA (B Fayd'Herbe) this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 01/01/2023 to 07/01/2023 inclusive). SHARAPOVA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding MARI MARIE (K Matsunyane) Trainer GS Kotzen will be advised to have this filly re-schooled before her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
