PRECIOUS STONE and ADRIANO'S TRIUMPH were slow into stride. SCOOP took a number of awkward strides over the final 400m. Jockey Strydom reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine SCOOP. Trainer Habib was requested to report back on the condition of SCOOP on return to the stables and also to provide a veterinary report before to this gelding's next run. In the concluding stages STARFLASH had to steady when awkwardly placed between ADRIANO'S TRIUMPH and WINDY FLIGHT, which was hanging in. Jockey Maujean, the rider of TOPMAST, and Jockey Kennedy, the rider of RING OF FIRE, reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. LAND OF THE BRAVE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. SCOOP raced without a tongue tie. TOPMAST raced without a tongue tie. Vet: SCOOP - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Veterinary report required before next run. TOPMAST - coughing. RING OF FIRE - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SILVER MASTER - not striding out left front.
