THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RULE BOOK (J P van der Merwe) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Steady rain fell during the running of this race. b) STORMY WINTER (*M K Katjedi) after jumping awkwardly from a wide draw, raced wide and without cover around the turn. c) RULE BOOK (J P van der Merwe) after being slow away, failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field throughout despite Jockey van der Merwe's urgings. Thereafter Jockey van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) KENTALLEN BAY (D Schwarz) hung out from the 500m. e) Jockey R Munger (KAPTEIN) reported that he felt something amiss with his mount in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine KAPTEIN. f) As a consequence of this race being run in steady rain, all Riders weigh in weights were rain affected. g) BILLY BOWLEGS (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee M Mgeni advised (MdP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) KENTALLEN BAY was ridden by Jockey D Schwarz (declared 5 January 2023 at 07H41). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) RULE BOOK raced with a cornell collar (declared 5 November 2021). b) TABEBUIA Jockey R Danielson weighed out at 56,2kg, 1kg over the carded weight. Jockey Danielson was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse TABEBUIA, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey Danielson signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) RULE BOOK choked up post race. b) KAPTEIN blowing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
