THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BALLY MAGIC (K Matsunyane) and CHASING MAVERICKS (M Yeni) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WONDERING STAR (N Klink) hung out badly from the 700m. b) At approximately the 150m, Jockey C Habib's (CELESTIAL CITY) crop was accidentally struck from his grasp by Jockey Khumalo (AFRICAN TORRENT). c) When questioned regarding his ride on FOREIGN FIELD, Jockey Munger explained to the Board that this gelding has a very short run in and coupled with the fact that 1800m in this going may have been too far for FOREIGN FIELD, it was always his intention to sit as long as possible in order to allow FOREIGN FIELD to finish his race off strongly. The Board accepted Mr Munger's explanation however he was advised against the practice of looking around in races. d) AFRICAN TORRENT (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Azzie advised (MdP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) CELESTIAL CITY coughing. b) BALLY MAGIC coughing. c) WONDERING STAR not striding out left hind and coughing. d) TOP SAIL brush wound right hind. SCRATCHED: a) FIFTH OF JULY not striding out right hind (NHA / 15H04). Veterinary Certificate required prior to racing.
