THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Approaching the 250m, IRON WILL (K de Melo), which had come to the end of it's run, was steadied off the heels of MANHATTEN CAFE (T Godden) which was hanging in and shifted in. Thereafter at the 150m, BOTZ (S Veale) rolled in and was then carried out marginally by BOUNDLESS BASH (C Habib) which shifted out. Simultaneously MANHATTEN CAFE (T Godden), which was continuing to hang in, shifted in resulting in BOTZ (S Veale) being steadied and switched to the outside of MANHATTEN CAFE (T Godden) to continue its run. b) Jockey T Godden appeared before the Board with regard to the above incidents and was advised to take more decisive measures to correct his mounts when they shift ground in races in future. c) In view of the performance of IRON WILL (K de Melo) (5.55 lengths, 18/10 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of JUAN CARLOS (S Moodley) (10.05 lengths, 11/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) MANHATTEN CAFE (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
