THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DOG DETACHMENT (X Ndlovu) was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. b) SEISMIC EVENT (L Mxothwa) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) PERONZADA (K Minnie) shifted out away from the crop from the 150m and had to be straightened leaving the 50m. b) Jockey X Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking DOG DETACHMENT more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey X Ndlovu signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey X Ndlovu used his crop, his recent record and the number of strikes (15). c) STAY THE COURSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
