THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CARAMEL FUDGE (A Mgudlwa) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) IBUTHO (K de Melo) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. b) Jockey A Mgudlwa reported that he felt something amiss with CARAMEL FUDGE in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Trainer P Lafferty was questioned regarding the improved performance of ICE KINGDOM as compared to this gelding's previous run over 1200m on the 04.12.22. He attributed the improvement shown to having removed the blinkers over the longer distance of 1600m of today's race. Mr Lafferty has undertaken to race ICE KINGDOM over distances similar to that of today's race in its immediate future engagements. d) ICE KINGDOM (*S Hlengwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P V Lafferty advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) ICE KINGDOM raced without blinkers (advised 11.01.23/08h53). b) SPIRIT OF MY FATE raced equipped with blinkers (advised 10.01.23/09h09).
