TOM 'N JERRY and SETTLEMENT DAY were nervous in the stalls. NINJINSKY'S SON threw its head up at the off, slow away and lost 2 lengths. CRUZ GIOVANNI and BRIGADOON ELY were slow into stride. Jockey Bogaleboile signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse TITUS more than 12 times in the entire race. A penalty of a fine was imposed. Jockey Bogaleboile was put on caution that should he use his crop on a horse that he feel is not sound in future, stricter disciplinary measures will be taken against him. Jockey Bogaleboile reported that TITUS was not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Fayd'Herbe reported that he felt something amiss with STRONG 'N BRAVE in the running. Apprentice Mphanya reported that TOM 'N JERRY took no interest in the running. Approaching the 500m, TOM 'N JERRY brushed the inside running rail whilst riding in a tightly bunched field when the front runners were edging for positions towards the inside running rail. The Board after viewing this incident from various angles deemed this to be a racing incident. FINLEY HILL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: STRONG 'N BRAVE - post-race distress syndrome. COUNTRY ROCK - cast left fore shoe. TOM 'N JERRY - not striding out in front and not striding out left hind. TITUS - not striding out right fore.
