THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MY AMI BEACH (D Schwarz) kicked the back gates in the stalls, was removed form the stalls, examined by the course veterinary surgeon and subsequently withdrawn. b) SILVERY BLUE (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gates. c) RAISETHEREDLANTERN (X Ndlovu) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing one length. d) FLYING PETER (M Mjoka) jumped slow, losing one length. e) MADAME PATRICE (J Mphanya) jumped slow, losing four to five lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 400m TRAVEL MASTER (R Fourie), which was hanging out, had to be steadied momentarily when close to the heels of RAISETHEREDLANTERN (X Ndlovu). b) MR BODACIOUS (R Danielson) was hanging in throughout. c) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that GLOBETONIC felt uncomfortable in its action and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt. d) Jockey Y Ramzan reported that JEAN PAUL took no interest in running and did not respond to his urgings from the 400m. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the report from the starter regarding MADAME PATRICE (J Mphanya), this mare's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves tractable to jumps on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 14/01/2023 to 20/01/2023 inclusive). MADAME PATRICE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) RAISETHEREDLANTERN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
