THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process YOUCRACKMEUP proved difficult, reared, dislodged Jockey L Mxothwa, bolted back to the parade ring and was withdrawn, causing a delay. b) NAMIBIAN QUEEN (K Steyn) jumped inwards. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 200m MEDLERS TART (G Wright) was momentarily held up when close to the heels of FIELDS OF GREEN (K de Melo). b) Approaching 100m MARY LAMB (R Fourie), which initially shifted inwards, was carried out marginally by BUSY LIZZIE (S Veale), which rolled out. c) In view of the performance of GLOBAL SONGSTRESS (A Mgudlwa) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey O Noach was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking TYPEFACE more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey O Noach signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey O Noach used his crop and the number of strikes (14). e) In view of the report from the starter regarding YOUCRACKMEUP (L Mxothwa), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 15/01/2023 to 21/01/2023 inclusive). YOUCRACKMEUP may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) BUSY LIZZIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee H Richardson, acting on behalf of Trainer AE Sands, was advised.
