THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLACK SILVER (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TIME FLIES (K Matsunyane) was hanging out from the 500m. b) YOUNG LOVE (C Orffer) was hanging out from the 300m. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that FOLLOW THE STAR did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) Jockey R Fourie reported that BYE BYE BOMBSHELL changed stride continually in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the performance of DO ANGELS CRY (A Domeyer) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this mare. f) Jockey C Habib was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking FLOWER OF SAIGON more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey C Habib signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey C Habib used his crop and the number of strikes (14). g) EVENING PRIMROSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
