THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LUCIA POPPOVA (K Matsunyane) and LA VOLEUSE (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1800m when racing in restricted room, LUCIA POPPOVA (K Matsunyane), which commenced to over-race clipped the heels of MYTHICAL TUNE (J Gates) and stumbled. Simultaneously, CRY FREEDOM (T Gumede), racing on the inside of LUCIA POPPOVA (K Matsunyane) was tightened, took an awkward stride, became unbalanced and lost position. b) LA DREAMER (*M K Katjedi) and MYTHICAL TUNE (J Gates) shifted out independently away from the crop between the 250m and 50m. c) Approaching the 100m, LUCK OF THE IRIS (M V'Rensburg) which shifted out away from the crop and away from MYTHICAL TUNE (J Gates), was eased off the heels of SALIENT POINT (B Jacobson) and switched in to continue its run. d) In view of the performance of LA VOLEUSE (S Moodley) (16.30 lengths, 7/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey B Jacobson signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse SALIENT POINT more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey B Jacobson struck the horse SALIENT POINT, and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) LUCIA POPPOVA (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
