THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MARQUEZ (K Matsunyane) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) BIG DREAMER (J Greyling), LORD NELSON (K de Melo) and MISS CHRISTMAS (M van Rensburg) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, BIG DREAMER (J Greyling) was bumped out by MARQUEZ (K Matsunyane), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) GIMME A DIAMOND (S Khumalo) over-raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, leaving the 150m, GIMME A DIAMOND (S Khumalo) was carried out marginally by VITELLIUS (R Simons), which shifted out away from the crop and was straightened. c) VITELLIUS (R Simons), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W C Marwing advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MARQUEZ raced without blinkers (declared 14 January 2023 at 08H11). b) MISS CHRISTMAS raced equipped with a compression mask (declared 16 January 2023 at 06H07).
