THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IPSO FACTO (R Munger) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) STORM DICTATOR (*S Sosibo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WIND WATER (K de Melo) and PERMESSO AVANTI (C Maujean) hung out from the 200m. b) At approximately the 200m, THYMETOSHINE (*K A Brewer) had to switch out to avoid running onto the heels of EYJAFJALLAJOKULL (D De Gouveia), which was being eased out of the race. Thereafter, Jockey D De Gouveia reported EYJAFJALLAJOKULL did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of EYJAFJALLAJOKULL on return to stables. c) In view of the performance of THYMETOSHINE (*K A Brewer), (distance 8,25 lengths, betting 17/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) WIND WATER (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee M Boya, acting on behalf of Trainer J J van Vuuren, was advised (LK). e) THYMETOSHINE (*K A Brewer), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
