THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, SUMMER OF DREAMS (M Thackeray) got her right leg stuck on the inside rail of the stalls. Thereafter, this filly became restless and broke through the front gates and bolted the course. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer H E Adamson was advised (GT). b) ARROW SKY (C Maujean) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) LIBERTY FLAG (D Schwarz) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. d) THE WORK OF LIFE (R Danielson) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the loading process, SUMMER OF DREAMS became restless, unseated Jockey M Thackeray, broke through the front of the stalls and bolted the course. SUMMER OF DREAMS (M Thackeray) behaviour in the stalls resulted in the front gates of draw number 11 disengaging and CHILLI MARMALADE (C Habib) exiting through the front of the stalls. CHILLI MARMALADE was restrained by Jockey C Habib and returned to the start. SUMMER OF DREAMS was taken in hand and subsequently scratched. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to SUMMER OF DREAMS, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading with a companion. Suspension dates: 20 January 2023 to 26 January 2023. SILVER PRINCESS may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer H E Adamson was advised. c) THE WORK OF LIFE (R Danielson), after being slow away on debut, failed to muster speed and trailed the field throughout. d) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that REGINA BELLISSIMA did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) SILVER MENSA (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis (MS). f) FIELDS OF GRACE (S Khumalo), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B B Ruiters advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) CHILLI MARMALADE was ridden by Jockey C Habib (declared 19 January 2023 at 08H44). (Stipes permission as Jockey G Lerena was unable to fulfil his riding engagement due to family responsibility). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) REGINA BELLISSIMA raced without blinkers (declared 13 January 2023 at 10H14). b) SILVER MENSA raced equipped with blinkers (declared 19 January 2023 at 08H34). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) REGINA BELLISSIMA not striding out right hind. b) ROCKINGTHETIMEAWAY fatigued. c) LIBERTY FLAG abnormal respiratory noise. d) POURSOMESUGARONME abrasion left hind hock. SCRATCHED: a) HEART AND MIND off feed (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). b) SUMMER OF DREAMS bolted the course. Immediate reinstatement (NHA / 12H51) Betting 40/1.
