THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ROCKETS RED GLARE (*M K Katjedi) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. b) FLOWERBOMB (M van Rensburg) hung in throughout. c) Shortly after the finish line, SOUTHERN SKIES (G Lerena) stumbled badly dislodging Jockey G Lerena. Jockey G Lerena was attended to by the Course Medical Staff. This precluded him from weighing in. The Board, acting in terms of Rule 66.2, deemed his weight to be correct. Jockey G Lerena was passed fit to continue riding. d) In view of the performance of GALLA VANTING (S Khumalo), (distance 18,00 lengths, betting 16/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with STRIKE A MATCH in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) KISS ME CAPTAIN (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Azzie advised (MS).
