THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AFRICAN SKYLINE (A Mgudlwa) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, PASSAGE OF POWER (J Gates) was bumped out by AFRICAN SKYLINE (A Mgudlwa) which jumped outwards. b) SPYDAS CORNER (*R Venniker) was hanging in from the 200m. c) In view of the performance of ISHNANA (*S Hlengwa) (6.50 lengths, 20/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Habib reported that SIKHULU did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey J Gates reported that PASSAGE OF POWER made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) CAPTAIN FONTANE (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
