THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DAVE THE KING (C Soumillon) raced wide on the bend and was hanging out in the latter stages. b) BILLY SPELLBOUND (G Lerena) raced wide on the bend and into the straight. c) Approaching the 200m Jockey G Lerena (BILLY SPELLBOUND) hesitated with his riding when awkwardly placed on the outside of TIME FO ORCHIDS (C Orffer). d) Jockey A Domeyer reported that he felt something amiss with MAX THE OTTER. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the performance of ASIYE PHAMBILI (S Khumalo), which raced to the front of the field and tired quickly in the latter stages, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) ROYAL AUSSIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
