THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ALESIAN CHIEF (M Yeni) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, SUPREME WARRIOR (B Fayd'Herbe) cast its right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay. b) Shortly after the start COSMIC HIGHWAY (G Behr) was bumped by RIO QUERARI (G van Niekerk), which jumped outwards. c) Approaching the 1000m SUPREME WARRIOR (B Fayd'Herbe) was steadied away from the heels of HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE (R Danielson). d) Leaving the 300m BATTLE FORCE (C Habib) was brushed outward by RIO QUERARI (G van Niekerk) and then had to be steadied away from the heels of RESONATE (A Domeyer), which rolled in slightly. e) RIO QUERARI (G van Niekerk) shifted in in the concluding stages. f) Jockey S Khumalo reported that BOHICA coughed post-race. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the performance of HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE (R Danielson), which tired quickly in the latter stages, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. h) Jockey R Fourie (BARTHOLDI) appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts to the finish line. i) Trainer SJ Snaith was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented RIO QUERARI in the parade ring incorrectly equipped. Trainer SJ Snaith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R500,00. j) GIMME A PRINCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DM Kannemeyer was advised.
