THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVER HOST (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 300m NEBRAAS (C Soumillon) was brushed inwards by MASTER REDOUTE which shifted in. Shortly thereafter, SALVATORE MUNDI (G Lerena) rolled out into clear running when SENSO UNICO (C Orffer) shifted out gradually. b) In view of the performance of DUBAI LIGHTS (M Yeni) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) An Inquiry will be held into Jockey G Lerena's (SALVATOR MUNDI) use of the crop. d) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking CROME YELLOW more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R5000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Jockey G van Niekerk used his crop, the number of strikes (13) and the value and status of this race. e) SALVATOR MUNDI, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
