THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STEPPING OUT (R Munger) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) WOLFRAM (J Mariba) and SWORD OF MERCY (R Simons) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, WOLFRAM (J Mariba) was brushed in by STEPPING OUT (R Munger), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) HOUSE MASTER (D De Gouveia) raced wide and without cover around the turn. Thereafter, Jockey D De Gouveia reported that HOUSE MASTER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Apprentice P Mxoli reported that CAPTAIN TIK TOK changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that MISS CHRISTMAS took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey K Matsunyane was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking FOLLOW THE FLOW (more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey K Matsunyane signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1,500.00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (13), his finishing position (1st), and Jockey K Matsunyane's recent record with regard to this Rule and Guideline (1). f) FOLLOW THE FLOW (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Ndzilana, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) HOUSE MASTER choked up (severe). b) CAPTAIN TIK TOK examined post race, nothing obvious detected. c) MISS CHRISTMAS brush wound left hind. d) FOLLOW THE FLOW blowing post race. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
