THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EAGLE ALLEY (J R Syster) and DARK TIDE (*K A Brewer) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) RAMCHANDANI ROAD (C Habib) jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the stalls making contact with the left-side front gate. Thereafter, this gelding hung out from the 400m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) LAETITIA'S ANGEL (R Munger) hung out in the concluding stages. c) At the 100m, COOL WINTER (K Mtsunyane) was bumped outwards by IRONTAIL (R Simons), which commenced to hang out and shifted out away from the crop. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection being lodged by him on behalf of the second-placed horse, COOL WINTER (K Matsunyane), against the winner, IRONTAIL (R Simons), on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after reviewing the patrol film of the race and hearing all the evidence put forward by the connections, was of the opinion that but for this interference, COOL WINTER (K Matsunyane) would have finished ahead of IRONTAIL (R Simons) and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges result to read as follows: 1st 10 COOL WINTER (K Matsunyane) 2nd 11 IRONTAIL (R Simons) 3rd 3 SOUTH BOY (ARG) (G Lerena) 4th 8 LAETITIA'S ANGEL (R Munger) 5th 2 KING OF VENUS (J P van der Merwe) d) IRONTAIL (R Simons), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (LK).
