THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRINCESS ILARIA (G Lerena) fly-jumped leaving the stalls. b) MABONENG (S Khumalo) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SECOND BREATH (G Pieterse) was bumped out by MABONENG (S Khumalo), which jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) HOTCHIWITCHI (C Maujean) compounded from the 200m. c) Jockey R Simons, the rider of DEFENDER OF RIGHTS, accidentally dropped his crop at the 200m. d) GIN AND TONIC (Wes Marwing) tired badly in the concluding stages. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey G Pieterse reported that he felt something amiss with SECOND BREATH in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) METEORIC (J R Syster), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R Klaasen advised (MduP).
