THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAPPY VIBES (G Pieterse) was unruly in the stalls and thereafter was slow losing one length. The Starting Stall Certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) A race review was called into the start regarding HAPPY VIBES in stall gate 9 and it was established that as this filly's hood was removed, she broke the front gates open marginally prematurely. It was further established that as the Starter effected the start, the filly was still in her starting stall and in fact had lost ground at the start. As this incident was attributed to the filly's behaviour in the starting stalls, and that any impediment suffered had been as a consequence of her own behaviour, the Stewards ruled HAPPY VIBES to be a runner. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to HAPPY VIBES, this filly has been suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping on terms with a companion. Suspension dates: 5 February 2023 to 11 February 2023. HAPPY VIBES may not be presented for repassing during this period. Trainer P F Matchett advised (GT). c) Jockey G Pieterse reported that he felt something amiss with HAPPY VIBES in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) WINTER MUSE (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J A Soma advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FLIGHT DE GRACE raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind (declared 3 February 2023 at 12H46). b) STORM DOMINATOR raced with a tongue tie on (declared 3 February 2023 at 07H42). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) HAPPY VIBES head injury. b) SILVER PRINCESS not striding out left hind. c) GHOST SHIP blowing. d) STORM DOMINATOR abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
