THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EDWARD RYE (ARG) (R Simons) was restless in the stalls. b) FULL GO (D De Gouveia) was slow losing one length. c) BACK IN BUSINESS (S Khumalo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) AFRICAN TWILIGHT (J R Syster) commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m. b) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that he felt something amiss with FULL GO in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) In view of the performance of EDWARD RYE (ARG) (R Simons), (betting 11/10, distance 11,00 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer J J van Vuuren was requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. d) BACK IN BUSINESS (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
