THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LITTLE MISS KJ (J Mphanya) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates. b) LADY CHARTOUCHE (S Khathi) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MISS UNITED STATES (K Steyn) was hanging out in the latter stages. b) In view of the performance of YGRITTE (L Mxothwa) (Betting 33/20 ; Distance 8.15 lengths) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey S Khathi reported that LADY CHARTOUCHE did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that FLY BETTER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Apprentice RA Venniker was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that she misused her crop by striking MAGENTA more than 12 times in the entire race. Apprentice RA Venniker signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000,00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account the distance over and manner in which Apprentice Venniker used her crop and the number of strikes (13). f) MISS UNITED STATES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
