THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PRINCESS JO (K de Melo) lost 1 length. b) LADY MACBETH (S Moodley) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey C F Dicken (EDVIGE) accidentally dropped his right-side rein at approximately the 50m which he regained shortly before the finish. b) Apprentice R A Venniker (LITTLE LADY) and Jockey K de Melo (PRINCESS JO) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. c) Jockey S Moodley reported that LADY MACBETH took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, guideline M, in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse SHAKEN NOT STIRRED more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey J Gates struck the horse SHAKEN NOT STIRRED, and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. e) FEELING GROOVY (A Arries), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Buckler acting on behalf of Trainer G S Kotzen advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Apprentice S Hlengwa (claimed 1.5kg of his 2.5kg apprentice allowance) was the rider of BELL STARBUSTER (advised 15.02.23/07h52). b) LADY MACBETH raced without blinkers (advised 14.02.23/12h32). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) LITTLE LADY : Lame right hind and fatigued. Specimens taken for analysis. Vet certificate required prior to racing.
