THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FIRE GLOW (JP van der Merwe) refused to load and was withdrawn. The Starting Stall Certificate for this filly was withdrawn. b) IDITA (K de Melo) was stubborn loading. c) SUMMER ODYSSEY (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls. d) SILENZIOSO (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls and thereafter slow into stride. e) GLOBAL RUSH (L Mxothwa) and LONTANO (T Gould) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to a thunderstorm and lightning that was moving across the racecourse as well as the late scratching of FIRE GLOW (JP van der Merwe). b) After being slow away GLOBAL RUSH (L Mxothwa) had to be steadied away from the heels of SILENZIOSO (K Minnie), which jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the stalls. c) In view of the report from the starter regarding FIRE GLOW (JP van der Merwe), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 18/02/2023 to 24/02/2023 inclusive). FIRE GLOW may not be presented for re-passing during this period. d) IDITA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
