THE STARTER REPORTED: a) UNSOLVED RIDDLE (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) ATTORNEY GENERAL (R Khathi) and QUESTION MASTER (J Gates) over-raced in the early stages. b) At the 200m, Apprentice R A Venniker's (HEY BILL) crop became briefly entangled in her reins. c) Jockey T Godden reported that he felt something amiss with MAJESTIC WARRIOR in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey T Gumede reported that TIME TAKER took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) In view of the performance of UNSOLVED RIDDLE (S Moodley) (27.70 lengths, 25/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (guideline M), in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse QUESTION MASTER more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey J Gates struck the horse QUESTION MASTER, and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed. a) RICCARDO (A Arries), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Bosch advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey T Gumede was the rider of TIME TAKER (advised 20.02.23/09h16). b) Jockey N Patel was the rider of SPACE NEWS (advised 22.02.23/08h26).
