THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) ROCK N ROLL GIRL (*K J Lihaba) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) SPIRITED FLIGHT (J Gates) jumped out leaving the starting stalls bumping PALM BREEZE (S Moodley).
b) OCTOBER SONG (T Godden) was hanging out throughout.
c) PALM BREEZE (S Moodley) was hanging out from the 300m.
d) At the 300m VICTORY BELLE (A Arries) was steadied when racing in restricted room between SPIRITED FLIGHT (J Gates) and BRIGHT STAR (R Khathi).
e) CAPTAIN ARIANO (T Gumede) was carried in by LA PURA VIDA (A Mgudlwa) between the 300m and the 200m.
f) Jockey C F Dicken reported that he felt something amiss with ANGELIC FORT in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
g) Jockey N Patel reported that MORGAN LA FAY changed legs continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
h) In view of the performance of ROCK N ROLL GIRL (*K J Lihaba) (15.00 lengths, 25/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
i) Apprentice K J Lihaba (ROCK N ROLL GIRL) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride.
j) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (guideline M), in that he mis-used his crop by striking the horse DIAMOND GIRL more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (17) Jockey S Veale struck the horse DIAMOND GIRL, and his record (4) in relation to this Rule and the fact that he won the race. Accordingly, a fine of R3000 was imposed.
k) DIAMOND GIRL (S Veale, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer S Ferrie acting on behalf of Trainer D Drier advised (NS).

b) MORGAN LA FAY raced with a cornel collar.
