THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CANTFOOLME (+W van Staden), QUEEN BRITANNA (+T Ncume) and MISS CHRISTMAS (+T Lukhele) were slow losing one length. b) GLITTERING BOOTS (+B Mlangeni) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, CANTFOOLME (+W van Staden) and IMPRESSION (+S Mkhumbuzi) came together and bumped. b) As the start was effected, GLITTERING BOOTS (+B Mlangeni) was bumped in by ELUSIVE FIRE (+T Matsoele), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) Shortly after the start, the saddle on PINK DIAMOND (+S Myendeki) slipped forward severely placing its Rider at a disadvantage throughout. d) At approximately the 1500m, COFFEE IN BRAZIL (+I Lukhele) was bumped in by UNITED'S RANSOM (+P Mongqawa), which proved exceedingly difficult to settle when fitted with pacifiers for the first time. e) At approximately the 500m, Work Rider T Lukhele (MISS CHRISTMAS) lost the footing to his left-side stirrup iron and to retain his balance, elected to remove his foot from his right-side stirrup iron. Work Rider T Lukhele persevered with his riding and MISS CHRISTMAS finished the race off strongly. f) Work Rider P Mongqawa reported that UNITED'S RANSOM made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) ROSSLYNE (+S Mosia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Heeg, acting on behalf of Trainer R Klaasen, was advised (MS). WORK RIDER CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MORE FOR ME raced equipped with blinkers (declared 21 February 2023 at 15H10). b) ROSSLYNE raced equipped with blinkers (declared 23 February 2023 at 07H58).
