THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CARNELO (D Schwarz), JET DYNASTY (K de Melo) and SAN MARZANO (D De Gouveia) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the request of Trainer W H Marwing, Jockey Wes Marwing (INCREDIBLE INDIA) did not carry a crop in this race. b) CARNELO (D Schwarz) over-raced in the early stages c) FANTASTIC IMPACT (AUS) (*K A Brewer) commenced to give ground to the field from the 400m. Thereafter, Apprentice K A Brewer reported that he felt something amiss with FANTASTIC IMPACT (AUS) in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) GLOBAL IMPACT (G Pieterse), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P F Matchett advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) CARNELO raced equipped with blinkers and pacifiers on (declared 23 February 2023 at 07H57). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FANTASTIC IMPACT (AUS) examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) STEPPING OUT not striding out left front and both hind; scalp wound right hind; fatigued. c) JET DYNASTY abnormal respiratory noise. SCRATCHED: a) CIRCUS LIGHTS under suspension.
