THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GOOD REASON (C Maujean) was stubborn loading and thereafter slow into stride.
b) SOL CAT (W Agrella) was nervous in the stalls.
c) LEGAL THRILLER (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length.
d) GREY SMOKE (R Munger) and ROYAL STATESMAN (K Steyn) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Leaving the 400m SOL CAT (W Agrella) and BRIDGE COMMANDER (E Webber), which were racing green, brushed.
b) GREY SMOKE (R Munger) raced green.
c) In view of the performance of SOL CAT (W Agrella) (Betting 11/2; Distance 30.10 lengths), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
d) In view of the performance of GOOD REASON (C Maujean) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e) Trainer M Turner was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that she failed to vaccinate ROYAL STATESMAN against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer M Turner signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00.
f) Jockey K de Melo, the rider of WATCH TOWER, was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.18 in that he used abusive language towards a licensed official. Jockey de Melo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2500.00.
g) VISION OF WONDER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer FJ Jacobs, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM)
