THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GLOBAL BEAT (T Gould) was stubborn loading. b) LORD MARMITE (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. c) SUPER HANDSOME (A Arries) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the parade MASTER VISION dislodged Jockey E Webber without incident, cantered a short distance, was taken in hand, examined by the course veterinary surgeon, passed suitable to race and proceeded to the start. b) At the 400m ALADO'S PRIDE (L Mxothwa) was brushed by HONEST QUEST (R Fourie), which shifted in away from the crop and was immediately straightened. c) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that THEN IN FOCUS (Betting 5/2 ; Distance 5.25) took no interest in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey R Fourie reported that HONEST QUEST felt uncomfortable in its action. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey A Arries reported that SUPER HANDSOME did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GLOBAL BEAT (T Gould), Trainer AC Greeff will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to its next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. g) BRENDEN JAMES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
