THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) CANFORD ICE (J Gates) refused to load and was withdrawn.
b) ERMELO (S Veale) was stubborn to load.
c) HUNZA ROAD (C F Dicken) was stubborn to load. Trainer P Gadsby acting on behalf of Trainer M L Roberts was advised to re-school this gelding (SN).
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) At approximately the 150m SPLENDID FELLA (N Patel) which was hanging in, switched in off the heels of B FIFTYTWO (T Godden) which had come to the end of its run. As a consequence, CHILLI CHACHA (L Tarentaal) which was hanging out was bumped by B FIFTYTWO (T Godden) on two occasions.
b) Jockey T Gumede reported that NANTES FESTIVAL took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
c) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ERMELO (S Veale), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days. Suspension dates: 27.02.23 to the 05.03.23. ERMELO may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer D I Campbell was advised. (SN)
d) In view of the Starter's report with regard to CANFORD ICE (J Gates), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days. Suspension dates: 27.02.23 to the 05.03.23. CANFORD ICE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer R A Hill was advised. (SN)
e) Jockey T Gumede signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 57.5.1 in that he failed to report to the Clerk of Scales at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the first race in which he was engaged (NATES FESTIVAL). Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
f) ERMELO (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D I Campbell advised (NS).
