THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GREEK MISS (C Maujean) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, QUEEN OF SMOKE (K de Melo) was directed inwards to obtain cover at the back of the field. b) GREEK MISS (C Maujean) over-raced in the early stages. c) Approaching the 200m, THREE STRANDS (M van Rensburg), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between ETERNITY RING (R Munger), which rolled out, and TULIP TREE (D De Gouveia), which shifted in marginally away from the crop. d) Jockey J P van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with BALLROOM BLISS in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) Jockey K de Melo reported that QUEEN OF SMOKE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that THREE STRANDS was blowing post race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) TULIP TREE (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
