THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LAST CHEER (N Klink) and FORT ALADO (*S Sosibo) were slow losing one length. b) PARKER GETRIX (J Penny) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) An inquiry will be opened to establish why FLAG BEARER (J P van der Merwe) and LADY CALAVERA (D Schwarz) had to ease at approximately the 1200m. b) At approximately the 150m, LAST CHEER (N Klink) was carried out marginally by LADY CALAVERA (D Schwarz), which shifted out away from the crop and was straightened c) Jockey K de Melo reported that FORWARD SPELL made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey D Schwarz reported that LADY CALAVERA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) TINDER DRY (M van Rensburg), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) NAPOLEON was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 1 March 2023 at 15H43). Jockey P Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse NAPOLEON, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer which necessitated a change of Rider. Jockey P Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. b) FORT ALADO: Apprentice S Sosibo weighed out at 51kg (only claiming 1kg of his 2.5 apprentice allowance) 1,5kg over the carded weight. Apprentice S Sosibo was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse FORT ALADO, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Apprentice S Sosibo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FORWARD SPELL raced with a cornell collar (declared 10 January 2022) and equipped with blinkers (declared 2 March 2023 at 08H31). b) LADY CALAVERA raced with a cornell collar (declared 9 January 2023) and with a pressure halter (declared 28 February 2023 at 09H36). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) INDUS KNIGHT nasal discharge (left nostril). b) FORWARD SPELL abnormal respiratory noise. c) NAPOLEON stirrup rub on the right-side. d) LADY CALAVERA abnormal respiratory noise. e) LAST CHEER scalp wound left hind.
